The Camrose and Area Lodge Authority (CALA) has overall responsibility for the operation of the Rosealta Seniors Lodge in Camrose. Additionally, CALA provides funding support for the lodge rooms at Bashaw Meadows, a combined lodge and Designated Supportive Living facility that is owned by The Bethany Group. Our board has representation from the City of Camrose, the County of Camrose, and the Town of Bashaw. CALA meets several times each year with representatives from the Bethany Group, whom the Board has engaged to provide management services, in order to receive financial and operational reports regarding the activity in the lodge.
The lodges provide housing opportunities for one of the fastest growing segments of our population. Our lodge residents are provided with comfortable accommodations, meal service, laundry options, plus a host of additional services which contribute to an enjoyable standard and quality of life.
It is the responsibility of CALA to assess the adequacy of the facilities that we provide for seniors. To that end, we receive regular survey data regarding the opinions of our residents. We also take the initiative to support new construction and renovations as required.

Changes to Order 16 - Safe Visitation come into effect on May 10, 2021.
We are pleased that these changes allow our residents and their families, friends, loved ones, and support persons more visitation. We see these changes as investing in our residents by allowing for more opportunity to create caring communities through important connections.
Restrictions have been lessened in concert with vaccinations among residents and staff. We encourage all eligible staff, residents, visitors, and designated family/support persons to receive the vaccine as part of fostering safe and welcoming communities. While the vaccine offers another layer of protection, public health measures like personal protective equipment and physical distancing continue to be implemented and observed.
Please read our Safe Visitation Policy for more information. A package of information will be provided if and when you visit with further information.
CALA is committed to providing respectful, secured, and supportive work environments to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals. We do not tolerate nor condone any acts of abuse from visitors or clients directed toward any CALA employee or representative.
All designated family/support persons and visitors shall be instructed to:
- Undergo a Health Assessment Screening at entry to the site and self-check for symptoms throughout and following the visit.
- Coordinate all visitors with the site Manager or designate.
- Adhere to Safe Visiting Practices and any related site policies.
- Only visit the client they are supporting.
- Wear a mask continuously indoors (and outdoors if physical distancing cannot be maintained).
- Notify the site Manager/designate of any symptoms that arise within 14 days of visiting with a client.
*Entry may be refused if there is reason to believe an individual is not abiding by these responsibilities.
All individuals visiting the site must still undergo the Health Screening Process and review the Risk of Unknown Exposure sheet before visiting. Visitors must wear a mask while inside the building, even when in the resident’s room.
In the case where physical touching (e.g., hand holding, hugging) is desired:
Residents will be surveyed about allowing indoor social visits (this is separate from visits from Designated Family/Support Persons). If the majority (over 51%) of residents would like visitors allowed inside, the site will create a plan to accommodate these visits.
If indoor social visits are agreed upon by the majority of the residents:
All visitors are allowed to visit residents inside under the following circumstances:
With the warmer weather approaching, spaces outside will be set up to accommodate visits.
There are no active outbreaks at this time.
We wanted to take an opportunity to update you on the changing restrictions as outlined by Alberta Health. Effective July 1st, 2022, CMOH Orders 06-2022 and 07-22 will be rescinded and our COVID protocols will transition back to routine management through strategies developed by Alberta Health Services and our own policy and direction.
This means the further easing of restrictions such as:
While the restrictions are lifting, COVID will continue to be prevalent in our communities, we must still consider what behaviours we can adopt to best protect one another and remain vigilant.
Please note at Bashaw Meadows as a combined lodge/DSL site, that continuous masking for staff remains a requirement and that visitors to Lodge residents will be asked to mask during entry and while in common areas that may be shared with DSL residents, but will not be required to mask when in a private space, such as a lodge resident room.

Originally built in 1987, Rosealta Lodge (RAL I) features private rooms with full bathrooms. A common area and dining room allows residents to congregate for a variety of activities and entertainment. In 2016, the fire system was upgraded to meet current standards.
An addition (RAL II) was built in 2016 with enhanced suites that include a small kitchen in addition to larger spaces. As well, common areas are available in both the addition and older part of the lodge.
Receiving regular resident feedback and seeking out areas for improvement is an important step to ensure our lodges meet the needs of the residents.
